Ersoy Kocabicak

Prof. Dr. Ersoy Kocabicak is a neurosurgeon and a founding board member of the International Deep Brain Stimulation Association. He is the Rector of Atlas University and leads the Neuromodulation Center at Ondokuz Mayıs University. Dr. Kocabicak treats movement disorders and functional neurosurgery. He earned his PhD from Maastricht University.

Specialization and Surgical Techniques

Dr. Kocabicak treats neurological conditions including Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's, and essential tremors. He performs Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery – a procedure using implanted electrodes to treat movement disorders – and stereotaxic surgical methods. Dr. Kocabicak also performs brain tumor removals, discectomies, and spinal cord stimulator (SCS) implantations.

He uses microelectrode recording to ensure precision during subthalamic nucleus stimulation. This technique involves recording individual neuron activity to map brain structures accurately. Furthermore, he conducts stereotactic surgical methods for various neurological diseases and treats head traumas. Dr. Kocabicak also provides bedside practice for the surgical treatment of movement disorders.
