Hayrettin Kesmezacar

Hayrettin Kesmezacar is an orthopedist and Professor at Bilim University Medical Faculty. He specializes in shoulder and elbow surgery with training from the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Kesmezacar treats patients at Gayrettepe Florence Nightingale Hospital in Istanbul.

Specialization and Surgical Focus

Kesmezacar treats injuries and degenerative conditions of the upper limbs. He performs shoulder replacements and arthroscopic procedures for rotator cuff tears and shoulder instability. Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive technique using a small camera to visualize and repair joint tissues through tiny incisions.

Research and Scientific Contributions

Kesmezacar has published research in journals including J Shoulder Elbow Surg and Arthroscopy. His academic work includes a long-term study tracking humerus fracture outcomes for 22.4 years. He also studied the morphology of the coracoacromial ligament and its relation to rotator cuff pathology. These findings help doctors understand the physical structures that lead to tendon tears in the shoulder.

His research covers functional outcomes for shoulder tumor prostheses and geriatric hip fracture mortality. The specialist also examined rotational malalignment after femoral shaft surgeries. Furthermore, he investigated the anatomy of elbow arthroscopy portals to improve patient safety during surgery.
