Dr. Francisco Javier Parra Jimenez collaborated with the Cardiology Service of the General University Hospital of Guadalajara from January to November 1999. He started working in the HM Hospital group in January 1999 with Dr. D. Manuel de Artaza until 2007, when he was appointed Head of the Cardiology Service at the HM Sanchinarro University Hospital.

At the present time he holds the position of Head of the Clinical Cardiology Service of HMCIEC (Comprehensive Center for Cardiovascular Diseases) of HM Hospital, where he carries out his work as a doctor and maintains his Clinical Cardiology practice at the HM Montepríncipe, Sanchinarro and Madrid Centers.

Dr. Francisco Javier Parra Jimenez also coordinates the activity of more than 30 clinical cardiologists and about 20 people dedicated to nursing activities.

Academic Education:

• Graduated in Medicine from the University of Barcelona (1999-2005).
• Subspecialist Master’s degree in Pediatric Cardiology at St. Joan de Déu Hospital (2010-2012).
• Medical specialist in Pediatrics and its specific areas at the Albacete University Hospital Complex (2006-2010).
• Studying the PhD of Pediatrics at the University of Barcelona Autonomous (2019-present).

Professional Experience:

• Pediatric Cardiologist at the HM Nens Hospital in Barcelona (2012-2018).
• Head of Service of the Cardiology Department at the HM Nens Hospital in Barcelona (2018-present).

Scientific and Teaching Activity:

• Member of the Association for European Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology (AEPC), the Spanish Society of Pediatric Cardiology and Congenital Heart Disease (SECPCC), the Spanish Society of Pediatrics (SEP) and the Catalan Society of Pediatrics (SCP).

Areas of Professional Interest:

• Area of excellence: Preventive Cardiology in cardiovascular diseases.
• Research lines: Cardiovascular risk in adolescents with pathology or a family history of cardiovascular disease. Role of the microbiota as a regulatory factor in obesity and metabolic disease.
• Doctoral Thesis: Evaluation of early changes in the myocardium and cardiovascular system of adolescents with severe obesity.
• Kawasaki Disease: Member of the Asenkawa Medical Advisory Team (Association of Parents of Kawasaki Disease).
