Dr. Ertuğrul Ercan is a Professor of Cardiology. He completed his training at Ege University and Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. His main areas of expertise are interventional cardiology, atherosclerosis, valve diseases, and coronary artery disease. He also focuses on inflammation and coagulation, cardiovascular immunology, and stem cell therapy.

He helped advance catheter-based treatment of ASD, VSD, tetralogy of Fallot, and other defects. This work reduced the need for open-heart surgery. He has performed more than 1,200 pediatric and congenital cardiac interventions.

He has led academic and clinical programs. He contributes to research and training. He also participates in professional cardiology societies and presents at international conferences.

Experience

On his return from London, he organized and directed the Arrhythmia Unit of the Cardiology Service of the University Hospital Nuestra Señora del Pino in Las Palmas until 2000.

He later became Deputy Director of the Arrhythmia Department and Director of the Electrophysiology Laboratory at the Jimenez Diaz Foundation in Madrid.
