Prof. Speziale was an adjunct professor at the Sapienza University of Rome. He held the Chair of Cardiology II at this institution. He also teaches cardiac surgery at the University of Ferrara. As a researcher, he has presented numerous papers at national and international congresses.

In research, he explores non-invasive approaches for treating cardiac arrhythmias and tricuspid surgery. He led National Research Council projects on myocardial infarction and coronary bypass technologies. These projects included new technologies for cardiopulmonary and normothermic bypass. He has authored over 90 publications in journals like the European Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery.
