Education and Academic Roles
Prof. Halperin completed his medical degree at Hebrew University, Hadassah, Jerusalem, between 1970 and 1977. He later earned a Master of Internal Medicine from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University in 1986. During this period, he also served as a Lecturer in Medicine at the same institution.
The doctor pursued a research fellowship in gastroenterology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in the USA from 1984 to 1985. He then completed clinical training in liver diseases at the Royal Free Hospital in London in 1990. Additionally, he has served as the Head of the Internal Medicine Course at Tel Aviv University.
He achieved the rank of Associate Professor in 1992 and became a Professor at the Sackler School of Medicine in 2000. Prof. Halperin has supervised several doctoral and master's candidates. His research has addressed topics such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and intestinal mucosal immunology.
